The pretzel was well received, sales kept rising, and eventually the Wege family stopped making rolls and bread in order to focus their efforts on making the sourdough hard pretzel.
Since then, WEGE has increased the size of its physical plant, its production capabilities, the variety of pretzels it offers, as well as the geographic area where it sells them. This was accomplished without sacrificing the high level of quality for which WEGE is renowned.
Wege broke ground on a 25,000 square foot expansion on March 31st, 1976, bringing the total to 110,100 square feet. Today's facility produces the finest pretzels in the world using both modern technology and outdated methods.
